QUARANTINE TRILOGY is a work prepared for the virtual performances marathon “Corpi sul Palco | Performance from home in quarantine time” curated by Andrea Contin, streamed live on the website www.corpisulpalco.com on May 1 and 2, 2020 and now still visible online.

The work is representative of this special moment of LIUBA’s life, full of joy thanks to her son Sole. It’s composed of both intimate personal home scenes and a new performance inspired by  VIRUS TABLEAUX VIVANT, a previous work realized in 2004 for the Flash Art Fair in Milan and part of the VIRUS series.

But if in Virus Tableaux Vivant the red dots – symbol of ‘sold’ in the art fairs – are sticked onto the artist’s body, criticizing the objectification of the female body, in QUARANTINE TRILOGY they become an immediate recall to the disease that has shaken the whole world, and the action becomes a symbol of the healing power of love.

The intimate images of the other two scenes of the triptych, taken from spontaneous daily life at home, present Sole, the artist’s son, caught while laughing, underlining a message of positivity and hope informing the work, thought and created in a moment of extreme crisis and uncertainty.

The full version of the performance was broadcasted on the 1st and 2nd of May during the Corpi sul palco live event. The video now visible online is the web version of the work.

QUARANTINE TRILOGY was presented in its extended form on 1st and 2nd of May 2020 on the virtual stage of  CORPI SUL PALCO.

The extended version was later edited in an artist video lasting about 10 minutes

Quarantine Trilogy, part I, videostills, 2020

This is my lovely son Sole, who is part of the Trilogy. he is the fulcrum of my life now and therefore he is the fulcrum of the entire Trilogy. This work was conceived during the Quarantena lock down in Milan, and it’s made with my own life, but going into universal issues. I am very proud of this work, and I am happy to share it to you!
